EventsLocal, utility, state, and federal government incentives are available for energy efficiency, retrofit, and installation of green energy systems. The following programs are available for residents and businesses in Colorado:

Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Renewable Energy Equipment

All sales, storage, and use of components used in the generation of power from renewable energy source are exempted from sales and use taxes in the state of Colorado effective from 2009 through 2017. However, sales and use taxes assessed by incorporated towns, cities and counties are still applied to renewable energy equipments, if they choose.

Colorado Springs Utilities - Renewable Energy Rebate Program

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) offers a $3.75 per-watt (AC) rebate to customers who install grid-connected solar electric (PV) systems with a minimum capacity of 500 watts and a maximum of 10 kW for residential systems and 25 kW for commercial systems.

La Plata Electric Association - Renewable Generation Rebate Program

La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) offers a one-time rebate, not to exceed the cost of the system, to residential and small commercial customers who install a solar, wind or hydropower facility.

Southeast Colorado Power Association - Renewable Energy Rebate

Southeast Colorado Power Association's rebate programs support hybrid solar-wind power generation project of customers who successfully process their Application for Interconnection. If a qualifying facility's nameplate capacity is greater than 10 kW, then Qualifying Facility Design Data Requirements are also required.

Xcel Energy - Solar*Rewards Program

Xcel Energy's Solar*Rewards Program provides two separate incentives for customers who install and maintain grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems sized up to 120% of the average annual load of their homes and facilities. Customers will receive an upfront rebate payment, plus a separate payment for the renewable-energy credits (RECs) produced by their system. To qualify for a solar rebate, participants must submit an application and receive approval from Xcel Energy prior to installing the system.
